Funding Priorities
Our Funding Priorities for the State of Nevada include:
- Arts
- Scientific and Medical Research
- Studies for Education Reform
- Assisting in the development of public policy for economic development and efficiency in government
In our role as catalyst, we are able to create opportunities to raise funds and awareness for important causes in our community that benefit children, students, families and our community.
Since 2000, Catamount Fund’s contributions to Nevada organizations amounted to over $426,000.
Donations assisted Truckee Meadows Community College, Sage Ridge School, Mariposa Dual Language Academy, Youth Transformation – Doors to Recovery, Junior Diabetes, Ronald McDonald House, Renown Healing Garden, Lake Tahoe Women’ Services, Nevada Policy Research Institute, Channel 5 Public Broadcasting, UNR, Nevada Opera, Nevada Women’s Fund, Sierra Nevada Journeys, Sparks Little Theatre, Guinn Center for Policy Priorities, Nevada Museum of Art, Nevada Cancer Institute, Sierra Arts Foundation and more.
In addition to hard dollar donations, Catamount Fund has worked with scholars at the Hoover Institution, RAND think tank, The Tax Foundation and has hired grad students and others to conduct research from which Catamount has efficiently shared details or produced white papers that have been distributed to relevant parties for appropriate action. Such white papers included: “Economic Diversification;” “An Economic Analysis of Financial and Intangible Assets Firms in Nevada;” “Relative Teacher Compensation in Nevada;” and “State of Nevada Publications Index.” Catamount also creates working groups, accumulates information from disparate sources as well as procures documents, books, etc. for information gathering and distribution as related to its mission.
